Description

Founded in 1986 in the United States, Fairfax Cryobank is one of the oldest, largest and most established sperm banks worldwide. Fairfax operates with a strong focus on scientific excellence, medical safety, and family-building support. The bank partners with Cryogenic Laboratories, Inc. (CLI) and Pacific Reproductive Services (PRS), which together form one of the most diverse donor pools in the U.S. Fairfax Cryobank’s mission and vision are to support individuals and families in their path to parenthood by providing safe, high-quality donor sperm and exceptional customer care, guided by rigorous science, ethical responsibility, and decades of clinical experience. Fairfax Cryobank ships worldwide and works closely with international distributors—including partners in Canada, Brazil, Argentina, Japan, Cambodia, South Africa, the United Kingdom, and the European Union. They maintain compliance with multiple regulatory environments, including UK HFEA-registered clinics (no import license needed) and EU tissue establishments, shipping directly from their European hub. Their Client Services team is internationally connected and multilingual. Support is available through various regional lines covering the U.S., Spain, Mexico, the U.K., Australia, Brazil, and Argentina, and they offer email support in Spanish and a general international email account for global inquiries.

Donor types and services

Fairfax offers both Non-ID Release and ID-Release donors. Donor profiles include detailed background information, family medical history, baby and adult photos, and staff impressions. Fairfax also offers a photo-matching service to help clients select donors with similar features.
Fairfax Cryobank offers a variety of sperm vial preparations tailored to different insemination methods, including IUI, ICI, IVF, and ICSI, each with defined motility (TMC) standards. Options range from premium vials with higher motility to ART and ICSI vials with lower motility, allowing flexibility for both home insemination and advanced fertility treatments. Fairfax provides clear guidance on which vials suit each treatment and how many may be needed.

Genetic test panel

Fairfax Cryobank applies to one of the most comprehensive donor genetic screening programs in the industry. As Fairfax Cryobank is the only sperm bank with a Medical Director who is an MD and PhD Geneticist, Fairfax Cryobank understands the value of this expanded genetic carrier disease testing in the sperm donor selection process. All new donors are tested for a genetic panel of over 500 genes. The specific genetic panel the donor had completed is determined by when he started in our program. To see what the donor had tested, you can see his Genetic Testing Summary on his donor page. It lists all the genetic diseases he has been tested for and the results. Donors are routinely screened for core conditions such as: Cystic Fibrosis (CFTR), Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA), Hemoglobinopathies (Alpha- and Beta-thalassemia, Sickle cell disease), Fragile X Syndrome, Tay-Sachs disease, Phenylketonuria (PKU). To find the donors with expanded genetic disease testing, you can select them on Donor Search by going to the ‘Genetic Testing Search’ tab and selecting ‘Expanded Genetic Disease Tested Donors’.
